Privacy policy
Your details, kept simply.
This site belongs to Megan Williams, a romance author in Alberta, Canada. This page explains what she collects, why, and what you can ask for. Last updated October 21, 2026.
What Megan collects
When you join the reader list, she keeps:
- your email address;
- your first name, if you give it;
- which sign-up form you used, the page it was on, and the exact wording of the box you ticked, with the date and time you ticked it.
The last item is a record of your consent. Canada's anti-spam law expects senders to be able to show that every person on their list asked to be there.
That's all. The site has no visitor accounts and takes no payments. Pre-orders happen on the retailers' own sites.
How she uses it
Only to send you the emails you signed up for: news when this site opens, new releases, cover reveals and the occasional bonus content. Your details are never sold, rented or shared with anyone for their own marketing.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare, Inc., a US company, runs this website and stores the reader list on its servers in North America, so your details may be stored outside Canada. To deliver the site and protect it from abuse, Cloudflare also processes basic technical information such as IP addresses.
- Kit, Inc., a US company, sends Megan's emails. When you sign up, your email address and first name are passed to Kit, which stores them on servers in the United States and other countries. Like most email services, Kit records whether emails are opened and which links are clicked.
Information stored outside Canada is subject to the laws of the country where it's stored. To ask about how these providers handle your details, email Megan at the address below.
Cookies and other sites
- This site uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
- Before the site opens, one cookie (
mw_preview) lets invited people view the private preview. It does nothing else. - Instagram posts load only if you click "Load posts from Instagram". After that, Instagram is run by Meta, and Meta's privacy policy applies and it may set cookies.
- Links to Instagram, Facebook and the book retailers take you to their own sites, which have their own privacy policies.
How long she keeps it
Until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed. Every email will have an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect within 10 business days, as Canadian law requires (usually right away). After that, Megan keeps only a record of your sign-up and the date you left, so you're never added back by mistake.
What you can ask for
You can ask to see the details Megan holds about you, have them corrected, or have them deleted, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Email hello@meganwilliamswrites.ca and she'll get back to you.
If you're not happy with the answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
